Privacy & cookies

How we use information when you browse, request a quote or contact us.

Last updated: 9 October 2026.

Who we are

Jason McGinley Carpets & Furniture, Roscommon Road, Athlone, N37 F5H2, Ireland, is responsible for personal information used to handle our customer enquiries and orders. Contact mcginleycarpet@gmail.com or 087 255 4669 about your information or this notice.

Information we use

We receive the details you give us when requesting a quote, contacting us or placing an order: your name, email, phone number, address or Eircode, measurements, product choices, messages and any photographs you choose to send. Our website and hosting providers also process technical information such as IP addresses, device/browser information and security logs. Please do not send payment-card details, passwords or unrelated sensitive information through our forms.

Why we use it and our legal basis

  • To respond to enquiries, prepare quotes and arrange orders, payment, delivery and fitting: steps you request before a contract and performance of a contract.
  • To maintain records required for tax, accounting and other legal obligations: compliance with those obligations.
  • To protect the website, prevent abuse and manage relevant customer service and disputes: our legitimate interests in running a secure business and resolving issues, balanced against your rights.
  • Optional marketing and non-essential tracking, where used: your consent. You can withdraw consent without affecting earlier lawful processing.

We need sufficient contact, product and location details to provide a useful quote or fulfil an order. Without these, we may be unable to provide the requested service. Requesting a quote does not subscribe you to marketing.

Who receives information

Information is accessible to the people who need it to deal with your enquiry or order, and to service providers supporting the business. These include Shopify for our website and enquiry forms, Google for business email, Cloudflare for website media delivery, and relevant payment, delivery, fitting and product suppliers where needed to fulfil your request. We share the relevant details for that purpose, rather than your entire enquiry history.

If you choose WhatsApp or another messaging service, that provider processes your information under its own privacy terms. We may use connected customer-service software and automated assistance to organise and answer messages; Jason or the team confirms orders and commercial arrangements. We do not use the website to make solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about you.

International processing

Some service providers process information outside Ireland and the European Economic Area. Where required, transfers are protected by an applicable adequacy decision or appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses. Contact us for information about the safeguards relevant to your enquiry.

How long we keep information

We retain information for as long as needed to answer the enquiry, manage the customer relationship, fulfil orders and handle relevant follow-up, and for applicable legal, tax, accounting or dispute requirements. Retention depends on the type of record, whether an order is placed and any outstanding obligation or issue. Contact us if you want a particular record reviewed or deleted.

Cookies and saved designs

The website uses essential technology for operation, security and the services you request. Your quote basket and sofa design can be saved in this browser’s local storage so you can continue browsing. Contact-form details are not stored by our quote basket. Remove items or clear this site’s browser storage to delete these local saves; clearing storage can also remove your saved design.

Shopify may request permission for non-essential analytics, preference or marketing cookies. You can accept, reject or change optional choices through the cookie controls. Necessary storage remains available for the service you request. See Shopify’s cookie information at shopify.com/legal/cookies for further details. Google Maps, reviews, supplier catalogue and WhatsApp links open external services; we do not embed a Google map or review-tracking widget on these pages.

Your rights

Subject to the applicable conditions, you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your personal information. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests and to direct marketing, and withdraw consent where processing relies on it. Contact mcginleycarpet@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity before releasing information. You can also complain to Ireland’s Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.
